Brian Sullivan Doubles & Michel Hourcastagnou Shooting CompetitionThis event moved from Croydon to Harrow this year and was able to increase the entry to 64 teams. Several Harrow members entered Jan, Fidel, Monty, Dave F, Fergal, Tom, Alan, Gordon, Simon & Vince. the event was held as a barrage in the morning and Main and Plate knockouts in the afternoon. Only one Harrow team got through to the main, Dave F and Fergal. All others were in the plate. Dave and Fergal were knocked out in the first round, as unfortunately the draw against Denmark 1 did not favour them. Gordon and Simon, having qualified for the quarter final had to withdraw as Simon had another engagement. Tom and Alan went onto play in the Semi final but as the light faded and tiredness set in they lost to the eventual plate winners. Results:-

Players ranged from very experienced players down to novices who came to have some fun while remembering all the good times. Half the proceeds from the entry fees, along with profits from a raffle, will go to the Macmillan Nurses who were a great help to Martin. The Baker Family have purchased a bench, suitably engraved, that will placed overlooking the piste where we all can sit and remember Martin. The Harrow Observer also attended and took a lot of pictures, so take a look in the next edition. After tea, coffee, pains au chocolat, brioche and croissants play started around 9:45 with the teams split into two groups of eight leagues of four. The format was barrage in the morning. Following a BBQ cooked by Mal with salads prepared by the Hanley family. (Mal is one of our three resident chefs along with Nick and Alan). The main and plate knock-outs commenced. Again the rain held off and we were treated to some excellent pétanque, well those of us who were either knocked out or organising were, but equally well I hope that the players enjoyed their games. Results were:- Main winner - Sofiane Lachani Runner up – Jean-Denis Scatena Semi Finalists – Tom Creak and Didier Chassot Plate Winner - Jerome Rousseau Plate Runner up – Brian Stote Best Lady – Claire White Best Junior – Caitlin Baker Best over 50 – Tom Creak First Fanny - Emma Puddick The biggest shock of the day, and he agrees with this was Tom Creak getting as far as he did, watch out Thames Valley in the league! I hope to upload some pictures soon, I only managed to take a few of the presentation so will wait until I have some more. HPC TriplesA disapointing 4 teams turned up, however the sun shone and some good petanque was played
